Would you be interested in staying in Ukraine long term, given Ukraine wins? Whatever that may look like.

Ukraine will win, God willing.

But would I stay? Honestly, I used to think no without hesitation. The plan was always elsewhere, Poland, England, other chapters. But the longer I'm here, the more this country gets under your skin. The people, the land, the culture.

At the end of the day it's God's will whether I stay or go. My path does lead elsewhere, but perhaps this becomes my permanent home one day. I won't rule it out. It's certainly a possibility I find myself considering more than I once did.

Are you fluent now in Ukrainian?

Fluent? That's a broad and generous term, so no, not even close.

My Polish gives me a head start and some leeway. I can get myself around, understand basic prompts and commands, navigate a supermarket without too much embarrassment. But Google Translate is still very much a daily companion.

That said, learning Ukrainian has been a goal of mine for a while now and I am attempting to put in the effort. I want to at least reach a decent conversational level. Reading and writing though, I simply cannot seem to crack either. That might be a bridge I won't be able to cross.
